Nourishing drink using only natural ingredients
The weather is really hot this festive season!
Instead of quenching your thirst with sugar-laden commercially packed drinks (that ended up adding extra calories without really provide rehydration), why not prepare a simple and nourishing drink for yourself and your guests? A simple drink that not only rehydrate, it is also anti-inflammatory and refreshing (much needed in view of the indulgence in rich foods over the celebrations) while produces zero waste at the same time. I'm using rock sugar, but for those who wish to go sugar free, you may use stevia leaves as alternative. Best for your body, best for our earth!
Ingredients
30g Job's tears (Chinese barley)
3 pieces mulberry leaves
1 stalk lemongrass
6 pandan leaves (knotted)
50g Wolfberry
Rock sugar or stevia leaves to taste
Method
Bring to boil all ingredients except Wolfberry in 2 litres of water, then simmer for 40 minutes.
Add Wolfberry and rock sugar or stevia leaves and off heat.
Serve warm or cold
